Bill Edgar is professor of apologetics at Westminster Seminary, an
accomplished jazz musician, missionary to France and brilliant speaker.
During his three-day residency, Bill will be lecturing and conducting
discussions on topics that span the arts, apologetics, and jazz music
and its history. Please note the following schedule:
Tuesday, "The Art of Persuasion"6:30pm, Dinner discussion; open to all but RSVP required. Please email music@gracepres.com to attend and receive further details. Basic lessons in Christian apologetics. How to walk in your friend’s shoes and unveil the problems of unbelief. Many examples of reaching different persons, with the goal of sharing the gospel and letting the Holy Spirit convince. Wednesday, "Heaven in a Nightclub: The Spiritual Story of Jazz Music"
7:30pm, Palo Alto Arts Center (in Auditorium), 1313 Newell Rd, Palo Alto. Lecture/Concert, FREE and open to the public. Taking us back into the history and the music of African-Americans, where the church and the gospel message had a major influence. The narrative of deep misery and deep hope emerges through spirituals, jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues. Thursday, "A Biblical Theology of Entertainment"7:00pm, 555 Stanford Ave, Palo Alto. Lecture/Discussion, open to all. Redeeming this usually maligned value. After a critique of the wrong kinds of entertainment, we present a positive case for refreshment, meditation, joyful celebration, based on the biblical call to rest, in imitation of God’s rest after the six days of creation, and Christ’s rest after the atonement.
