summer film series | holding out for a hero | 7.16>8.27>9.24

what are you looking for in a hero? to whom can you turn when you need saving? in conjunction with this summer's sermon series on the Life of David, we will look at three films that present different heroic ideals, asking what qualities are required in a hero and whether or not these people are truly heroic.

to kill a mockingbird | july 16

"which was better, the book or the movie?" based on the quintessential summer reading book for high school, this classic American film from 1962 stars Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch. Peck was awarded an Oscar for his performance, and his character was chosen by the American Film Institute as the #1 movie hero of all time. his character is one of the great examples in 20th century art of justice and morality.
