worship at grace presbyterian

Whether you worship at Grace every week, or you are just visiting for the first time, this page will help you participate fully in our worship.

experience worship as genuine delight

Worship at Grace Presbyterian Church seeks to connect Christians and pre-Christians to Jesus Christ in fullness, truth and spirit. It is also our highest privilege and joy.

Every aspect of worship is fueled by the realization of God's grace. Since Jesus is both the object of worship for the Christian and the one who enables worship, genuine worship exalts the Trinity. Worship is for God's glory alone.

We encourage authentic and powerful whole heart worship and God-focused adoration while we seek to avoid human-focused sentimentality. Our music follows this same focus, and we sing more about God and his work and less about ourselves and our effort. The sacrament of the Lord's Supper is the high point of the worship service. All other elements (adoration, renewal and commitment) find their completion at the Lord's Table.

We seek to connect all of our worship participants to Christ, whether Christians or pre-Christians. Therefore, our preaching, our music and liturgy draws attention to Jesus. We bridge the distance of pre-Christians by interpreting the beauty of Christ until they proclaim "God is really among you!" (1Cor 14:25). At the same time, we avoid the pull toward constant trendiness or toward dry ritualism. We interpret the culture, seeking to speak the unchangeable truth of God into the language of the people and toward the particular issues of the age.

One of the unique aspects of Grace Presbyterian Church's preaching is its emphasis on transformation by grace through faith. Therefore, teaching applies the Gospel to Christians and seekers alike, urging all toward deeper conversion and exclusive worship of Jesus.

worship music - the heart on fire

Worship music at Grace Presbyterian Church exalts and delights in the Trinity. It is the highest calling of the church and the ultimate eternal purpose of God's people, therefore we commit a major portion of our resources toward worship.

Our approach can be summed up as: excellent and authentic. Our musical style rotates through and blends main streams common to North American worship: contemporary, folk/celtic, gospel, traditional hymnody and classical. This affirms the broad history and creativity of Christians of different generations, and attempts to avoid being either trendy or rigid. Because of our great appreciation for so many different styles, we avoid proclaiming that a particular musical style is exclusively ‘right.'

Much of our music is participatory, although we also lift the congregation into God's presence through musical offertories.

In our effort to lift up Jesus and not ourselves, we avoid drawing attention to the music either by being performance-driven or distractingly poor. Therefore, paying some of our professional musicians -- those people who earn their living from music -- honors their gifts and brings glory to God.

Music and the arts have always been ways for Christians to offer their best creativity and passion for God. Prayerful excellence in planning, preparation and music leadership are themselves means of worshipping the Creator and Savior.
