GraceCares

In May 2003, Grace church launched GraceCares, our mercy and justice ministry team. This team mobilizes and equips people and Community Groups at Grace Church so that they can help local ministries of mercy. We've partnered with existing local Christian agencies to provide care throughout the South Bay with a variety of different needs. For more information on how to get involved, contact the church office.

Christians know that God has already accepted them, while they were still sinners, through the work of Jesus on their behalf. Therefore, Christians, people who have been eternally changed by the mercy of God, will overflow into deeds of mercy and justice. Why? Two reasons:

1. The Gospel changes our attitude toward the city around us and its people. The Gospel makes us both love and respect the many weak and diverse people in the city, since we were once a weak outsider. The Gospel makes us want to do our best in using our gifts for the sake of God (not ourselves), for the sake of our neighbors and for the sake of excellence. The Gospel leads us to bring down cultural and racial barriers as we seek the peace and prosperity of the city where God calls us (Jer. 29).

2. The Gospel reconciles social brokenness. The Gospel makes us humble - which heals the racial/nationality brokenness . We now can look at others who are not like us (even non-Christians) and know that we can learn from them since we are not saved because of our wisdom or performance, but because of our record. Also, since the Gospel makes us generous, we thankfully pour out our lives caring for the needy. Christianity, therefore, becomes the greatest basis for civil relationships in a pluralistic society.
